Earth Core v.2
The Earth’s core
Part One :
1. A) It is the top layer of the earth, with a thickness of 5 km to 10 km for the oceanic crust, and 30 km to 50 km for the continental.
B) Lower/Upper mantle- is a 2900 km thick shell of compressed and neated rock, beginning below the earth’s crust.
C) Outer core- extends to a depth of around 3000 miles beneath the surface. It is believed that this outer core is made up of super heated liquid molten lava.
D) Solid Inner core- The inner core extends another 900 miles, in world toward the center of the earth. It Is believed that this inner core is a solid ball of mostly Iron and nickel.

3. I think that the inner core has the hottest temperature because it’s at the very bottom of the earth where lava comes from.
Part two:
1. T=d+870 T=3400+870 T=4270
2. T=d+870 9000=d+870 d=9000-870 d=8130
3. A) I think because the location of the place is below the sea level.
B) 7200-870=6330
The temperature difference of crust and inner core is 6330 degrees
C) -6401+90=6311 the total change in depth from the crust to the inner core is -6311
D) The situation in question #1 model to outer core because 4270 is close to 4300= outer core.
E) The situation in question #2 model to Inner core because 8130 is close enough to 7200=Inner core.
Part three:
1) Some causes of the earthquake are when tension is released from the rocks in the earth’s crust and upper mantle and volcanoes are the other cause.
2) Some locations that earthquakes occur are Japan, Italy, New Zealand and Iceland.
3) There can’t be an earthquake in Winnipeg because the earth is divided to plates and Winnipeg is exactly in the middle of a plate.
4) I chose the earthquake that was at may 22 1960 in Chile.
The magnitude of the earthquake was 9.5. The damage was 200,000 buildings were collapsed and 130,000 buildings were destroyed. 2,000,000 people were homeless. The cost of that earthquake was half of a billion dollars. The aftershock was tsunami. The aftershock happened after 10-15 people and 200 people were dead after that.
