Cells and Systems-Characteristics of living things

Paramecium

paramecium

paramecium

1. The cells that the paramecium has are 2 nuclei one of them is small and the other one is big the big one operates as the director of the cell’s activities rather like a little brain. The smaller one is used for reproduction. The paramecium splits in half (fission) just as the ameba does. First the smaller nucleus splits and the whole paramecium splits. Occasionally two paramecium exchange material and form a new paramecium. This is called conjugation.

2. The way it gets energy is eating tiny algae, plants.etc. The cilia propels the food into a tiny mouth opening of the paramecium .The food is then shoved down a little tube called a gullet that leads to the protoplasm or stuffing of the cell.
3. The way it grows is eating tiny algae, plants and more… stuff that it can find in the ponds.
4. The way it reproduces is by splitting to two.
5. The way it responds to it environment is pretty good it has place to eat and it has where to live it lives wherever there is scum.
6. The way it produces wastes is it has two vacuoles at either end of its body to get rid of excess water and wastes.
7. It has a life span that splits to two. The bigger the nucleus is, in the paramecium it splits up to another paramecium.
